Collection: Infrared Optical Material丨Elements

In infrared optics engineering technology, there are many infrared components that can transmit a certain wavelength, such as lenses, prisms, windows, filters, modulation discs and rectifiers, etc. The materials used to prepare these components are often called infrared optical materials.
Infrared optical materials mainly include semiconductor materials and dielectric materials (mainly alkali-halogen compounds, oxides and certain inorganic salts, etc.), according to the composition and form they can be divided into five categories: crystals, hot-pressed polycrystalline, transparent ceramics, glass and plastic; according to the transmission band can be divided into two categories: medium-wave infrared optical materials (0.9~5μm) and long-wave infrared optical materials (8~12 μm).
Most of the long-wave infrared optical materials are semiconductor materials, which are generally in the form of crystals, hot-pressed polycrystals or glasses.
